At some time each of us will be a caregiver or companion for someone journeying through illness, disability, or the final passage of this life.

This day of reflection is offered for:

  • Those who anticipate taking on the role of caregiver/companion in the future
  • Those who currently are in the role of companion/caregiver
  • Those who have transitioned through the loss of a loved one

TUESDAYS WITH EMILIE:

A Day of Reflection for Caregivers and Companions

Tuesdays With Emilie offers

  • Practical suggestions for coping and staying strong emotionally and spiritually
  • Encouraging stories from caregivers willing to share what they've learned
  • Spiritual insights with time to reflect, time to pray, time to care for yourself
  • Suggested online resources, books, and support groups especially for caregivers

Tuesdays With Emilie is offered in memory of Emilie Tomaszek, who blessed our lives in many ways until going home to God at the age of 95.

A caregiver is anyone who provides physical, emotional, spiritual, financial, or logistical support to a loved one with a chronic, disabling or life-threatening illness.

A companion might not take on the direct care of an individual, but is an important “companion on the journey”  as a friend, family member or loved one.

On any day of the week, caregivers and companions must balance work, school, church and family responsibilities. It is often difficult to break through to a place of inner peace and meaning. We do have faith that God is with us, but long for the opportunities to revitalize our spirituality and reflect on our experience of Holy Mystery.
