Do This in Memory of Me

In the midst of preparing this Between Sunday's reflection for Corpus Christi - the Body and Blood of Christ - a powerful tornado struck Oklahoma City and our eyes and consciousness were thrown again into the midst of human suffering. We pray for those who died in the storm, those who are injured and homeless, as well as those who are bringing relief and rebuilding efforts to the community there.

Yet, it is often through suffering that we most deeply understand Eucharist. As Robert Feduccia articulates in this week's video reflection, Jesus Christ took on the fullness of our humanity, including our suffering, redeems it through his Body and Blood, and now invites us in the Eucharist to "Do This in Memory of Me."

What happens at Eucharist on Sundays is intimately joined to our lives Between Sundays and the places and people that open our eyes to the presence of Christ. The practice of radical hospitality, rooted in the great commandments to love God and our neighbor, calls us in faith "to become what we receive." (St. Augustine).

Thanks, Robert, for providing these powerful insights. We also send a special shout out to Chris Muglia for his prayerful song that inspires our visio divina.
